Good architecture improves mental and physical health.

Good architecture improves mental and physical health.
We believe that Architecture must act as a social force for the betterment of the human kind. To achieve this It is foremost important to protect and integrate nature and the environment. This can be achieved without necessarily adding costs to the construction, or by adding expensive renewable technology. Designing with nature can simply mean recognizing and harnessing to ones advantage sun paths, winds, shading trees and adding insulation for energy savings. One of the most simple and inexpensive ways to save energy bills while helping the environment is to super-insulate the walls, floor and roofs of even the most simple house extension.
Many design decisions may affect future generations therefore a building must also be sensitive to the culture of the place, sustain a sense of continuity in the community and avoid a globalized approach.
We believe therefore that
a new building
should always make a positive contribution to it’s context. In our Blog you will find up to date examples of our on going work, each project has been designed specifically to respond to the needs of our Clients, while achieving energy efficiency and fitting within the particular context in which it has been developed.
We have all been in spaces that we really like and an ambient that we immediately react to negatively. As human beings we intrinsically ‘feel it’ when we enter a building that doesn’t work. Maybe the layout is not clear, maybe there is not enough natural light and ventilation. Some spaces can be so bad that they can even generate medical conditions such as Sick Building Syndrome or asthma in children. We believe that
a space must inspire positive emotions at all times and also strive to have good indoor air quality. This can be achieved by creating environments that are functional yet poetic, harmonious and comfortable and that are built as much as possible with natural materials.
We think it is important to put people back at the centre of buildings. This can only be achieved by listening and understanding as to what are the Client’s real needs. We believe that the Brief, listing exactly what you require, is the most important element from which to develop the project.
Through a process of asking the right and relevant questions, visiting the site, and exploring the best views and sun paths, we allow our Clients to go through a process of ‘awareness’ that helps them focus on what are their real requirements now and in the future.
